the main factor that drives teenager to adopt smoking is gens of their parents. and secondly parents who smoke before their children, grows the curiosity to know what it is and they do it. thirdly the idiot friends who are not bothered about real friendship who teach their friends to smoke( when they know that passive smoker is more prompt to cancer then the active smoker).fourthly the movie characters. everyone has one or two heroes as their godfather and want to do all in filmy style as their heroes do. fifthly it self surrendered life without any ones offer, where we go for smoking. it cannot be prevented by the government because it gets most of it's tax form tobacco company. social organisations have many other works to do. parents are busy in their lives. so it is the individuals determination to stop smoking knowing the consequences of smoking as passive or as active . and its impact on your children after your marriage

I suppose it's about the same as any other substance, addictive or not. Alchohol is harmful, as is caffeine, as are all manner of legal drugs, but they each hold their unique form of giving the body pleasure. Cigarettes just happen to be more addictive. They say nicotine is as addictive as cocaine, and most call it BS, yet only 3% of people who start can quit for good. THREE PERCENT!
Taking that, once a person starts, it's hard to stop, heh. And people usually start in their teens going with the flow of things, because adolescents have fairly basic minds still and society's influence is still quite heavy.
Tobacco industries offer all of this because they were sued for over 4 billion dollars and were forced to set up such programs. Guess who wound up paying for all the annoying commercials and research on tobacco? That's right, they did. Which is why cigarettes are $7/pack instead of the 2.79 they used to be.

There is good news on the horizen. A recent newcast revealed that many young people are either not even starting to smoke or those who do have begun to stop it.
Iowa and maybe other states is upping cigarette taxes (again) by as much as $1 and a newspaper article said it is truely discouraging young people not to smoke-Yea!
As a teentager, I smoked to "look cool" and "fit in"-That was in the 40's wshen nothing was known about the danger of smoking but when I became a Christian,by the grace of our Lord, I stopped immediately and give Him the glory because I just stopped-no withdrawal hassels, etc. I know that isn't the case for everyone who trusts in the Lord and has addictions-I took sleeping pills for 35 years and prayed time and again for His help to stop and only recently did I put myself through withdrawal-not pleasant and I know He helped me cause I do not have a lot of will-power in those areas.
Anyway-in case you haven't noticed, cigarette mfgrs. are going overseas because of loss of revenue in the U.S. due to bans on smoking in public places, etc. plus the high cost of the coffin nails.

Well I could speak for myself. I started smoking out of 1. boredom 2. the older kids who I hung out with were doin it and they looked cool. 3. gals thought u were grown Imagine that. So if u explain to them that it is not cool at all, u smell like crap, ur mouth taste like u were licking an ashtray in ur sleep and u get out of shape quickly which affects ur sports sex and social life. I stopped smoking 3 yrs next month and it feels Guuuurreeat. Im glad I did it and got over it so I could actually advise kids like yours. DONT DO IT!!!! there is absolutely no benefit and u are not rebelling lol. So rebel against genocide in somalia etc or something.

The fact that it's enjoyable, and the intense feeling of being a self righteous safty fascist if we adopt an anti-smoking attitude. Also the outright lies told by the anti-smoking lobby.

The company in which they are. It can only be prevented by periodic appraisal by parents abt the harm smoking can cause. Parents shd take time out to sit with their kids and discuss such issues.

T.v, parents, friends, celebrities. To help prevent is for them to stop advertising them on t.v. with a celebrity smoking parents stop smoking if not stop doing it around their kids. Check who their friends are we can't stop all things but we can be watchful.
