That's because you have accepted yourself FULLY and love yourself. So now, it's not that you don't "mind" people calling you names, it's just that it doesn't "matter" anymore, because your are genuinely happy w/ yourself, and where you are. Great!

I'm not offended by the word, I'm offended by the hatred that can be pout behind it. The word itself can be a cigarette or a bundle of sticks or a very happy gay individual. It can also be used to hurt...sort of like the word fvck which is used nowadays as verb adverb, predicate and adjective. I ask (usually politely) that people do not use it while they're around me. Mostly they acquiesce.
It's all in how you view a word. I understand where you're coming from though. Blessings.

I am right there with you. I am straight but I can relate on a different level. I have always been the fat girl and people have taken every opportunity they could to remind me of that and attempt to lower my self-esteem. One day, some kid attempted to make a disparaging remark towards me and I responded with "Wow, that really hurt. Do you feel better about yourself now that you tried to make me feel bad...?" (of course, I was sarcastic!) But then I sat back and thought about it and I just didn't care any more. The only time it really hurts me is if it comes from a loved one and/or someone whose opinion I really respect.
I guess in some cases, apathy is a good thing...

I don't care what people say to me anymore. I personally haven't had anyone say anything discriminating to my face and I came fully out of the closet about 8 years ago. When idiotic people say stuff online I just let it go or reply with a come back.

It depends who it's coming from as to whether I get offended or not. I guess it's the same as black guys calling each other "N*****". Totally depends who it's coming from.

im bisexual myself and i feel that using desrespectful language is unacceptable. I would never use it, and I think you feel that you may have been desensitized, but it probably still bothers you on the inside.

i think it is stupid. so is every other anti-gay term for that matter. all my straight friends call me f.ag and queer and i just laugh. even if someone calls me a f.ag in a fight, i don't care. i think that all those terms are dumb and everyone who takes such retarded terms to the heart is a big dope.
