The world has cast off the totalitarian govarnment almost half -a century and the republic of the former soviet union are struggling to replace the communist regine of almost 75 years with new democratic order something they could never before experience.

Most african states got freedom between 1940-1960. Now it was almost 40 - 50 years passed. They got better education and better opportunities. They are not salves of past. They also got information by ibnternet , radio and television which was not present before 50 years. They now know their rights and many people joined politics. Even state governments there in afrioca know the importance of donor money and doner can't give money without basic political reform. Since last 50 years, solwly, these donor agencies has able to push african governments towards reforms. and I can see clearly, that one day , africa will become main engine of world economy if they live in peace . Because it has all it needs.

Though I do not know a single recent example, I hear that even in Africa there are now more countries holding multiparty elections than there were 20 tears ago; there are more countries with a peaceful handover of power from one party to another than there was 20 years ago; and there are fewer incidents of supporters of opposition parties being victimised.

So if these trends continue, the horizon is sunny indeed.

The natural yearning of the Human soul is to be free. People want to have safety and stability in their government. Laws that apply to great and small alike. The ability to choose who represents them in government and to choose who leads the government.
The American model of the constitutional republic governed by a two-house democratically elected congress and led by a single democratically elected leader is the most sought-after type of government under heaven.
May Africa continue to advance toward liberty and equality.

Jessica, your hopping around a bit as your ref to Africa is not exactly commentable and your ref to Russia is true they haven't experienced democracy since the revolution and they are struggling it would seem so for good relations with the rest of the world lets hope they make it
