Have a quiet chatt with the partner. That, to start with, will put a stop or reduce the act. If, still in doubt, hire a minder! Thats is the normal way! You can go a mile further, by examing his/her emails, if possible, but I would not advise you to, because if you have to confront him/her you will have to releal your source of niformation. If you do, that will be the end of your relationship.
The best way is to have a chat, first, then if not successful, hire a minder!

In the first place do you really think that your partner is having an affair. If you have heard it and not seen then talk to him. If convinced that has been said is the truth then forget it. In case you are still in doubt hire a detective agency or any trail him by yourself or confine it with some one you can trust who will get the real facts.
Hope this might help

Ask them straight up if they are having an affair. Then watch the body language and listen to their response to the question. If this doesn't work, start keeping track of their movements do they go out more often to the store, or come home later from work or leave earlier for work. Little things can often uncover an affair you gotta just look for them.

Hire a private detective to follow him, that way you will know for sure. Is he being secretive around you, taking phone calls then walking out of the room, does he lie? does he come home late and say he was out with his work mates? is he not being affectionate towards you? These are all signs that he could be having an affair.

You can always hire a PI or follow him yourself??? Is he out late a lot at night??? That would definately be a good indication.

generally if you suspect , it is true; look to yourself ; invest in yourself; open conversation and if what he tells you isn't making sense; then move on .
