Jarrah_fortytwo: Actually the Christian standard is higher - when someone slaps you on the right cheek, you turn the left to them also.

I was asking what do YOU do, i.e. you personally, when if you find out you are being back sta bbed. My course of action is actually to not vindicate for myself, but prove silently by my works that the other person falsely said things about me, and give that person the benefit of the doubt whilst the absolute truth has not manifested.

the Buddha says that you must forgive all people who do you a misdeed. to do anything else is the same as doing what they did to you. You didn't like that much, eh?

forgive and forget. It's a hard thing to do, but it's really the only way to stop the conflict from snowballing. Look at all the wars and conflicts that have ever happened. If the protagonists had given each other the gift of forgiveness, there would be a very different world history that we would be experiencing.

Look at the way the Dalai Lama has completely and without reservation forgiven the Chinese for their invasion and continued occupation of his home, Tibet. That is heroic to say the least. I'd strongly recommend that you read a book called "The Wisdom of Forgiveness - Intimate Conversations and Journeys", by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Victor Chan (Published by Riverhead Books / Penguin, New York, NY, 2004). That will give you some idea of how difficult but ultimately spiritually fulfilling the act of forgiveness can be....

well, you could do one of two things, first is to get back at the person by backstabbing them and this would be an "eye for an eye" situation but really, the person who backstabbed you is at fault because that person was pretending to be your friend. Second, you could use the fact that you are being backstabbed as an indicator that there is something about you that people don't like. You could then correct this problem if possible but if you can't then try to make new friends that are comfortable with your habits and personality

Preferably with some others to give you moral support, confront those doing it and say that you are all aware of what is being said about you and there is no truth to it; it is hurtful and you demand that it stop! It may or may not achieve the desired outcome, but you will feel better for having stood up for yourself, and your friends will respect you for it: who cares about what the others think?

Depends...if the act of the backstabber has no consequence, then leave it and ignore that person....if the backstabber has influence on others, you have to confront them. Don't get into that game: Dont get mad, get even...nobody wins..

Pull the knife out of my back and stab the backstabber. Make sure I clean my prints off the knife of course.

If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men. Dearly beloved, aveng not yourselfves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written,Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Therefore if thine enemy hungers, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. This is in Romans 12:18-21

well if you want to be the bigger person, just make your dissapointment known, and stop relating to that person....if not, just play coy for a while so you can have time to plot revenge..depending on the situation you can set a proper plan to get even....even steven....hehehhee

"Revenge is a dish best served cold!". Wait until they least expected it and then stick the knife in. Revenge is sweet!
