Sky News - The Government's strategy for tackling obesity in children has been criticised as "confused" and "dithering" by an influential group of MPs

is this not the job of parents.educated the children in what is good to eat.instead of leaving it and blaming the goverment.i know many a parent that would rather give thier child a few pounds to go to the chip shop rather than cook them a healthy meal.it's the parents that should be held to blame for obese children

totally agree with you. i saw on the news that schools wont divulge the childrens weight even to the parents because of the threat of bullying. it should not think that will matter soon as they'll all be a disgusting mass of blubber soon with an aversion to sunlight and fresh air.

The parents are to blame for the child's obesity. It's not the politician who's marching the child into the nearest fast food restaurant. If the parents can't be bothered to cook the child a healthy meal, it's their own fault, & money for these initiatives could (& should) be spent on something else.

some will replace into lobbyists (or lobbyist advisers) or some component like that. those adult adult males have connections in DC that are regardless of the actuality that helpful. Others (like Chris Fraud from Connecticut), created a helpful little position that ought to be crammed even as he were given the fictitious "economic Reform bill" exceeded. someone is going to get appointed to chair that committee. all and sundry wanna wager who it must be? it is the similar ingredient with the unconstitutional wellbeing scare bill. There are all kinds of panels and committees which will may prefer to be staffed and that i'm particular that Mr Putts promised intense paying, popular positions to the lapdogs that shoved that bill down our throat. in uncomplicated words like crabgrass and rust, those losers will always be round. perchance the present blood that takes over in January will defund fairly some this beef, yet in uncomplicated words time will tell. This gang looks out for yet another (which sucks) i ask your self how lengthy seen one in all those clowns may fairly very last interior the interior optimal sector? i ask your self what form of job they could get? does no longer you want to exercising consultation Cheri Reid performing as a greeter at the front door of the Wal-Mart in Searchlight, Nevada? i'd make a particular vacation obtainable only to chortle at him.

i think u could b right.
when those 2 brothers of Cambs, who over-fed their dog were successfully prosecuted 4 cruelty.
the fat police had arrived.
why that poor dog was returned 2 them, after he lost the sight in his left eye due 2 prolonged obesity
i don't know!

sorry but the buck has 2 stop somewhere & from my experience
some parents have no idea or have any hope of accepting that they r obese, let alone their kids!
i think it's better late than never, 4 the government.
they have 2 do something & do it soon, b4 a whole generation of children r abandoned 2 ill-health & create a huge drain on the NHS.
some kids i've come across, throw fruit at passing buses/cars,
free fruit paid 4 by the government.
why?
coz they don't like fruit!
& if dare i say something, after seeing such a pointless waste, they even call me skinny cow 2 my face!
skinny cow is a form of insult!
is it my fault their fat?
no.
it's their parents who must shoulder the responsibilty.
MUST!

Hear, hear! I just read that it's the teachers' responsibility to let the parents know if a child is obese! WHAT???? Surely to god the parents can see this for themselves! I despair!

I just read the answer below mine. Good grief. So now we're blaming low incomes are we? What a load of tosh. As one of the previous answers states, this wasn't a problem just after the war when no one had any money! Finance has nothing to do with it.

The government can only do so much - they can inform, suggest and help, but as the saying goes "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink!" They can't make people eat healthily.

Also, if you think about the price of McDonalds for a family of four... about 3.50 pp = £14. For 14 pounds you can buy Stock cubes, vegetables and meat to make a perfect soup. Or pasta with a vegetable sauce costs about £4 to make for a family of four... Eating healthily is cheaper, and is being made more so by supermarkets putting fruit and veg on offer...

I wish parents would understand that they are killing their kids.... they are also limiting their options in life too, as eating junk (as proved by Jamie Oliver) reduces concentration span and therefore makes you less likely to concentrate in school....
