No, fish do not sleep. As in nature, when it gets dark, a fishs' metabolism & physiology slows down.Birds also-how many do u see at night...

If u hav difficulty netting a fish, turn off th tank light & cover the whole tank ( blanket..whatever) for a few hours. When u want 2 net it, remove th blanket and you'll find your fish 'asleep' & netting it will be very simple.

yes and when they used to tickle them in the old days they would strok the bottom of the fish and send it to sleep then grab it out of the water
saying that i spent many hours watching my fish tank but have never seen an asleep fish.

There are only one or two species if my memory serves me right that sleep. If fish were to go to sleep that would require stopping swimming and that will ultimately kill the fish.

Officially no - not in terms of 'eyes closed and little or no thought/movement - apparently the dictionary definition of sleeping.

However, they do rest - "Usually they just blank their minds and do what we might call daydreaming. Some float in place, some wedge themselves into a spot in the mud or the coral, some even build themselves a nest. They will still be alert for danger, but they will also be "sleeping."
