If you mean a reduction of deatail like on PCs where a less powerful hardware means simpler geometry or missing shadows or other "missing" things, then no: On the 360 all games look on a standard TV as on a HDTV regarding effects and graphics.

However, the resolution (sharpness) will be better on a High Definition TV. You will see tinier details better. They are still there on your normal TV, but will be lost in the low resolution. However most games are made with Standard TV users in Mind, so important objects in a game will be big enough for you to see even on standard TVs.

However it has been reported, that Dead Rising has problems with small fonts, that are a bit washed out on standard TVs.

So all in all: You can buy an Xbox 360, and play games with great graphics. If you later get a HD TV the games will look sharper, and the details, that were lost on your standard TV will now be clearly visible.
On standard TVs you will only have 480i (interlaced) lines to display. On HDTVs you will get 720p (progressive) lines or in some games up to 1080 lines progressive.

in case you do not plan on ever logging on, the 4GB kind is fantastic. although in case you'll bypass on line - extraordinarily in case you go with to play adverse to different gamers - i ought to signify the 250GB kind. the reason behind that is that many on line video games have updates and larger addons, like map-packs or new quests, guns, etc. With 4GB you'll run out of area very immediately - extraordinarily in case you intend on playing quite a few diverse video games directly. besides, most of the video games and demos you could receive from the 360's on line marketplace are quite tremendous and also you'll immediately locate that 4GB only isn't sufficient for extraordinarily lengthy. it is attainable to purchase the 250GB hardchronic for the 360 one after the different, yet you'll finally end up spending more desirable money than in case you had only offered the 360 with the hardchronic interior the first position.

you should seriously consider getting an HDTV first.
Also, I would wait until the new chip comes out. The 360 will run much cooler. (and hopefully quieter).
