I totally agree! High heels are from 4" and up. 2 - 3/4" = 3-1/2" are medium and anything below a 2-2/4 is a low heel. I feel that the reason women have lost the ability to walk gracefully in high heels is that first they don't really put much effort into it, and secondly most women expect that they should be able to walk with the same ease that they slog around in flip flops. They just don't realize that high heels are very special and must be worn with care.To successfully walk in high heels and to look graceful and elegant you must take small steps - walk slowly -never ever hurry in stilettos. Place one foot in front of the other in a "catwalk pattern" much like a fashion model on a runway. Your heels are not trainers - you must consiously take smaller steps in heels. The higher the heel the smaller the step. Also, you need to watch your footing constantly, stairways, escalators, uneven surfaces, cracks and gaps in the sidewalk, loose carpeting, and slick flooring all are potentially dangerous obstacles that a committed heel wearer must overcome at each and every turn throughout the day. A little wobble in your walk is actually considered sexy......The key is to go slow, and take small steps.
I absolutely live in 4" heels. I love the way they make my feet look so very delicate and legs look so long and slim. In stiletto mules, my legs seem to go on forever! Heels improve my posture, make me look taller, give my tushie a lift and give me a VERY sexy walk. With each and every tiny step my hips sway seductively. Heels make any outfit look more polished and sophisticated. I feel utterly feminine in my heels - and I truely love all the wonderful attention I receive from men when wearing heels. Men who do not know me always open doors for me and defer to me when I am wearing my heels. I wear heels almost exclusively - I simply feel sloppy when I am out in public without my heels.

4" and above can be impractical sometimes depending on where you are going and what the occasion is. At work I wear 3" chunky-heeled platforms since that's what I'm used to (I need the extra height too because I'm practically a Smurf). Anything higher and my feet would be hurting after 10 hours of running around the shop and office.
Going out I would love to wear higher, but the truth is that while men love LOOKING at women in high heels, hanging out with one is a-whole-nother ball of wax. I can't get them to slow down when I'm wearing them. The suck their breath, click their teeth like it's such a bother, a chore, for them to walk a little slower with me.
Once I ended up on my *** on the cobblestones in the middle of the French Quarter from tripping on a break in a stone because I was basically being dragged and truly couldn't keep up in the thin heels nor watch wear I was going. It's hard to glide when someone is yanking on your arm or acting like the world will come to an end if they don't get down the street 5 minutes sooner.
The other girls are worse. "Why are you wearing those? You look like a ho! They're too high. We're just going to a movie for crissakes! What's wrong with you?" etc
So now I keep it down to 3" though I love higher. It just makes dealing with other people easier.
We live in a world of instant gratification...no one likes to slow down and enjoy the ride or the show for that matter. Everything is now, now, now and they prefer to live without the frills because that takes too long. That's my opinion on it. We haven't lost the ability to do it, it's just frowned upon as tedious, stupid and vain (or "dirty" as in the ho comment, I have one pair they call my stripper shoes *smirk*). I don't agree with it, but that's the world we live in and we have to get along with others and yes sacrifice the way we would prefer things in order to do so...

I think heels look great on women, the higher the better. For me though, they are very impractical. When I'm out and about, I like to walk at extremely high speeds, overtaking all the grannies and ditherers. At work, I am on my feet for most of the day and when out partying I love to dance without feeling any pain. Why torture myself unnecessarily? Women who can do it, go for it. I'm jealous really.

Not all women can walk in high heels. Like me for instance, I look like an idiot in them. Half the women in heels I see can't walk in them properly and look stupid. Funnily enough, walking in high heels isn't a natural thing...that's why we can't all walk in them... makes sense really, it's not a genetic talent. 'Fashion' heels are made so that the majority of women can walk in them...making all high heels over four inches isn't really going to make them wearable to most. I'll be honest, I hate wearing the things, they hurt my feet, strain my leg muscles and give me back ache. I'd rather have small heels or no heels at all.

They aren't that high are they.I have always loved very high heels and wore them constantly for years(despite being 5ft 10ins)Sadly I can no longer wear them ,my feet and ankles are riddled with arthritis.I look longingly at them in the shops and hate things I have to wear myself.Yes------I have, sadly ,lost the ability to wear high heels.
People may say its my own fault for wearing inappropriate shoes all my life but I really did love them!

HIGH HEELS must be at least 4" high, anything below is just mid height or low. 4"+ = high, 3"mid, 2"=low.
