Shiva is a Hindu god and Gods live and has his presence every where but they mainly live in our mind and guide our soul.

Fortunately or unfortunately you and I have a place called house or apartment to dwell, to receive mails, guests, friends etc with a postal address to be furnished to various authorities for assessing tax etc. Most probably Lord Shiva may not have to do any such activities like receiving letters, filing tax returns, exercising his franchise during election process etc.
Those people who have faith believe that He is Omnipresent and Omnipotent. There are some people who want an address to look for him when ever required. For this they have provided a place called Mount Kailash in Himalayas as his permanent residence where he lives with his wife Parvati, sons Ganesha and Muruga or Subramanya. Each of them have their own automobile to move. They are Bull, (Shiva) , Lion (Parvati occasionally she rides on a tiger also) Rat (Ganesha), and Peacock (Muruga). They also have attendants like Bhringi etc. For entertainment they dance occasionally. They also meditate when tired. These are all en scripted in our epics and many ardent Hindu devotees believe.

nf in USA, parents would be telling story to children of lord Shiva that he lived on mount everest & mother ganga fall from sky, He caught her in his long hair & promised " if any one will take bath in river ganges his all sins will be vanished & after death will get in heaven
