Hi guys, I am quite impressionable by all that commercial stuff going on for Valentines. Problem is: I don't have a boyfriend and I am not expecting any cards (except the one from my mom).
To keep Valentine from being depressing, I tried last year to do something for someone else (like in helping or a random act of kindness) but this year, I don't know what to do.

Any suggestions?

Miranda, St Valentine's Day is not merely about romance, and boy-girl relationships. In fact, anyone who displays genuine affection towards you, can be legitimately asked 'Will you be my Valentine ?' on that day.'
While the commercial folk are busy emptying the conspicuous consumers' purses, you could prove yourself smarter than them - besides really making some lonely person's day :
You could put the Question to some lonely old gentleman in your locality and invite him to a hearty lunch with you, you could ask a destitute child in some orphanage to be your Valentine. Or, you could even walk up to a widowed grandma, kiss her on the cheek, and pose that Question. The possibilities are literally endless !
All it needs is the right will and attitude to gain yourself a genuine Valentine, or several more, by beating the 'system' which the mass-manipulators are attempting to set-up.
Here's Wishing you a Really Meaningful St Valentine's Day !

How about something completely silly? You invite all your single friends for a party and you all dress up like it's Halloween., but with lots of Valentine's candy to boot. You can call it EnitnelaV Day.

Go to a bar around closing time, find a poor, desperate guy, and throw him a random act of kindness appropriate for the holiday....
