I am almost 35 weeks pregnant, and for the last 3 weeks I have had the restless leg thing and it gets worse every night. The last 3 nights it has begun to affect my arms as well. They feel like they are being pricked all over, kinda of like they are asleep, but they are not because moving them helps immediately.

Has anyone had this while pregnant, and what did your ob do to treat it? Tonight has been the worst, I have not slept at all and have a doctors appt in 3 hours, so I guess no sleep for me tonight!

I sympathize with you. I obviously do not have it while being pregnant but do suffer from it when I work midnight shift when I start to get tired. I usually walk around and it helps. I know there is medicine out there for it. Your best bet is to deal with it until you see your ob tomorrow and he/she can tell you if the medication available will affect your pregnancy. If it doesn't you'll probably have to go see your family doctor.

OK so you are gonna think this is the stupidest thing ever but...... my grandmother, mother and myself all suffer from RLS, when I was pregnant it drove me nuts!!!! Ready for the solution....Place a small bar of soap under the sheets on your side of the bed, like a Lil travel bar. I know it sounds crazy but it works for all of us. I know there have been articles about it that's how my grandmother had originally found out... I'm sure if you google it you'll find it. Good luck and congrats

I've heard drinking gatorade and or eating bananas helps.

If you weren't pregnant there is medication. But, I doubt you could take it while being pregnant.

Talk to your Dr.

That really stinks. Have you tried stretching before bed, maybe that would help?

Hope you find something that helps.

Doesn't happen only when women are carrying - happens to a lot of people even otherwise. No real cure known and I know it can be annoying. My legs seem to be wide awake when the rest of me is asleep. Your being pregnant means you cant take meds? Tylenol PM helps me.

Make sure you get your blood pressure checked when you seeyour doctor. Your circulation can definately be affected late in pregnancy so it is probably normal, however high blood pressure can cause vessel constriction leading to decreased blood circulation to your arms & legs so probably safest to get it checked out at your appointment.
