Depends cigarettes themselves don't cause people to lose weight nor when quiting cause people to gain. People who lose weight when they start smoking probably have an oral fixation like a child with a pacifier objects around and in there mouth keep them calm especially in stressful situations of course an adult would suck on lollies, eat something or pick up a smoke. People who have smoked develop this fixation so when they quit they substitute with food and/or start sucking on pencils not to forget their nicotine addiction.

If you wish to lose weight it is not the answer to your problems. Smoking may make you lose weight ...but the harm it causes to you might be irreparable. Your health is being impaired and smoking does cause problems like cancer of lungs and so many other discomforts.
