This is no word of a lie.......... I got pregnant within a month of giving up smoking after trying for 2 years. I have 2 other friends who have had the same success after giving up. There are lots of products on the market now that can assist you & use every bit of help you can get. I found brushing my teeth everytime i felt like a cigarette very, very helpful as well as using the patches. It is not fair to carry a baby & smoke at the same time & your baby will more than likely suffer as a result if you do get pregnant & don't give up. Smoking & miscarriage are very closely associated as are low weight babies & premature birth. Your baby is also more than likely to develope respiratory problems in childhood & is at a much higher risk of SIDS if you continue to smoke. Good luck - you can do it.....Unfortunately there is no easy way to do it except DO IT!

i gave up smoking as soon as the clock struck 12 new year, i used to smoke quite a lot. Me and my partner are trying for a baby and have been for a while. everytime i think about smoking i think about that precious little life that we want to bring into this world. if it makes us have bad coughs imagine what the smoke could do to such a tiny little thing. when i go near ppl who smoke the smell makes me want to vomit and i cannot believe how bad ppl smell!!! i used to be like that, no more i say!!! if i can stop smoking, anyone can. you're doing the right thing about planning the days you want to stop. one thing i will say; instead of eating high sugar foods replace it with something else. you need you completly change your routine, try to keep away from the situations where you would normally have a cigarette.

I believe in you, go for it and beat the habbit sweetie!! good luck xxxx

Sweetie...giving up smoking is one of the best thing you could do for your baby (not to say for ur health as well). Im sorry to say tht my auntie didn't know back then..I had an auntie who was a heavy smoker and unfortunately she was still actively smoking throughout her pregnancy. Her son was born with a Down-syndrome and years after that my aunt died of lung cancer.

I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone and i hope you'l learn from this as well. I know that mutation tht causes down-Syndrome or any other abnormal disorders happen randomly, but by exposing ur baby to such an unhealthy environment, u could somewhat add the possibility of that happening.

Good luck to u and i hope u n ur hubby will have a healthy baby/babies!!! :)

smoking effects your whole body as it takes oxygen out of your blood so nothing works as well as it could. when you get pregnant it makes your baby smaller and when it's born you increase the risk of it having asthma and the probability of cot death.

well done for deciding to stop - it's a really good decision.
it's not an easy thing to do but think about all the extra money you'll have to spend on your baby and how much healthier you'll be.

good luck with it x

well whether its smoking or anything else. just think that there is nothing more precious in this world than having a baby. my wife and i turned our backs on things we thought we couldn't for our baby and believe me it was worth it. nothing could replace the "high" you feel when you hold your baby in your arms. hope this helps.
