it's quite common but there is this poem -

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

don't feel like you have to put a poem in or anything if you don't find one you feel suits the purpose. just tell them how much you're thinking about them and that you're there for them if they need anything you can help with.

eta. love hatchetmistress's book suggestion, have you read any of the chicken soup books? i've got the one for the women's soul & it's really touching. just looked it up and there's one for the grieving soul. if you look at this website http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=YwMZPRVgCYQC&dq=chicken+soup,+grief&pg=RA1-PA105&ots=W1GlF2sQov&sig=Fev7wXkQ-nVZeS4TnxosIjD2j9w&prev=http://www.google.co.uk/search%3Fsourceid%3Dnavclient%26ie%3DUTF-8%26rlz%3D1T4GGIH_enGB203GB203%26q%3Dchicken%2Bsoup%252C%2Bgrief&sa=X&oi=print&ct=result&cd=2#PPP1,M1

it lets you read some to see if you want to buy it.

i recently lost a good friend he was killed in a car crash, at his funeral they provided a book for you to leave condolences or messages, as he was only 33 i simply put, "only the good die young" maybe you could also give examples of the good things this young lady did in her short life.

my daughter died at 12....it was very hard for me too....i don't like that poem that person wrote....a book would be a good thing to give....something they can read....or keep for ever...a keepsake is a good thing for them....something they can treasure forever and keep for comfort....that is what helped me out....
