I don't think elephant brains are as tiny as a peanut, but of course elephants are less intelligent than people.

I've heard indeed that they will remember when someone has done them harm, and they will remember certain places they have visited, but is it not the case that they don't forget so much because they don't know that many facts: An elephant will not forget who the president of the USA was in 1940, what the capital of Colombia is or what "je t'aime" means since he didn't know this in the first place. People have a lot more to remember and hence forget a lot more as well.

I find it hard to believe a science teacher said that but oh well, an elephant's brain isnt directly related to its size and indeed, for their size they have quite small brains but that aside, who knows if they ever forget anything?

We know they remember certain things such as the sound of their family members but we have no idea if they ever forget or not, its just a saying. An elephant is hardly the kind of animal you can get in a lab and do lots of tests with, its a bit ungainly for that.

A bigger brain in theory does have more to forget but you'll also have more redundant systems helping you to remember.
