There is always the same amount of material in the world. But it can be changed and moved. Eg. there will be always the same amount of water (even it's polluated or at the icesheets or oceans or clouds)...

Archaeological sites are usually burried because ancient people move earth on them. So that didn't change the amount, it just change the place...

To save excavation or removing old road surfaces etc etc, buildings and other structures get covered over demolished and buried. The action of worms and decaying matter, shifting sand/soil etc also increase soil height, have you not noticed lawn/verges increase too ?

Where is that dirt coming from, eh? THINK!

Dirt moves around. Objects are buried, but they are also exposed. There is balance in nature.
