As a native American Indian, I find that our culture has pretty much been compromised. People of all other races are taking over the "indian culture". Have you seen all of the indians at pow wows lately? There may be actually 10 native americans in 1000 that are actually NAI. If anyone asks me now, I just tell them that I am a light skinned black person. Life is much easier and goes without all of the dumb questions. What is your life like as a NAI? Are you NAI & how old are you? Do you find that trying to live as NAI makes your life a little more difficult?

No, i dont think so. Look at this juncture of point, we celebrate Navratri wearing Indian Costumes and paying our tributes to our Godess Durga. We have our Indian Food for about 29 days in a month. When a lady represents our country, she wears a saree(a costume which covers as much as it highlights) to show that she takes pride in being an INDIAN. Traditional items are the most preffered one outside. We are not sacrificing our culture . Go to the hotels, receptionist is wearing a saree and go to an MNC we would be seeing people in trousers. Its just a matter of disciple or i should say CODE OF DISCIPLINE.

depends ones definition of "culture and advancement"...rather than being pessimistic , while embracing Globalisation and Advancement we should try to Indianise the whole process ..after all Indians represent almost 1/5th of Mankind..classic example of Globalised Indian ism...Yoga,Vegetarianism,Ayurveda to name a few...
Lets take the good part of Global Advancement and also give the best part of our culture for others to share...its all about balancing things in life...our culture as we see today was not born i a day ...it too has imbibed a lot from the world...change as we know is inevitable and cultural changes are no exceptions

Where has advancement come in the way of our culture? If we do not want to take the hard route of following basic principles of decency in human interaction, like respect for the elders and the learned , we will be losers, but Culture is neither advanced nor stopped by the advancement itself.

Jayanti (Indian - pronounced Jay-yawn-tee - Meaning: Victorious) Akili (Swahili - pronounced Ah-key-lee - Meaning: Wisdom, Intellect, Sense) I think the two of those together is really pretty for a girl. U might have to get back to me for the boys names, if the baby is a boy.

Yes to an alarming extent.
We do not seem to respect or love our culture.
While it is very good to be tolerant society and learn what others are doing not respecting own culture and values will lead us nowhere.

As a white male of European descent, I feel that you should be given every opportunity, and then some. It was NOT right what we did, the land, water, and Earth belong to everyone.
