It would be nice not to have that mentality but I think the bush administration does have it.

I would think that our 'trading' would certainly foster that conjecture, certainly among the industrialist! But on the whole, America has taken on the job as the worlds policeman! And having said that, I think she really cares about stabilising the worlds trouble spots! The only problem is the way she has gone about it! She picked Iraq as a rogue state, threatening world peace with nuclear weapons! when it was Iran who has a very quite nuclear programme running all the time! Bad intelligence or what? Then you have North Korea! What do we do about her? We cant invade all these countries can we? I think America should insist that her allies should play a bigger part and support her more! After all, its those countries that will suffer as well if the balloon goes up one of these days! You watch them come running then!!!! And I'm an Australian!

exciting question. i think of a great style of the scientific advances could have come from Europe besides because of the fact that lots of the U. S. are descended from ecu colonists. possibly the concepts does no longer have got here approximately as rapidly nevertheless because of the fact that Europe became economically crippled after the 1st international warfare. usa's intervention interior the wars and its advocacy for self selection a great deal helped velocity up the efforts to guard peace in Europe. whether different than that i do no longer think of the international could be in a lots worse state than it is on the 2d. Human rights pass could have went on regardless and enormous Britain particularly became a huge hotspot for Asian and African immigration. in certainty the united kingdom is a much greater multicultural society today than the U. S..

Not exactly sure what you mean by that. Is the USA full of self indulgent ***** yes haha. Everyones brought up told that they live in the best country in the world. Ask what makes us the best and man will you get some dirty looks. But there are smart caring people like me here that see and understand the ignorance. And im tired of having my whole country grouped into a category.

Depends on who "them" is.

If US pays thems bills we kind of expect a little "thank you." Or a little support at the UN once in a while would be nice.

We're a bit competitive but we don't see ourselves as bullyish or overbearing. Is that a bad thing? Do you think we think too highly of ourselves?

Maybe you'd like for us just to keep all our toys at home and mind our own business and keep out of everyone elses yard. I'd like that. But it wouldn't be long before the thems come crying to us that one of the other thems is beating up on them. It happens all the time.

What's a body to do?

The population of my country is quite diverse, so it is simplistic to presume the USA has a monolithic mentality. As evidence of that, I cite the current political division between the executive and legislative branches of the federal government.

When the mentality of the world is thinking its wrong to defend oneself when attacked..,then the world has forced to us to feel that way.We dont like to be bullied or threatened or attacked.Thats real simple to understand.

The world often puts us in that position

For me, yes.

"Us" refers to all members of the Coalition of the Willing, past and present.

"Them" refers to the sub-humans in turbans who insist on killing other people.

Unfortunately, 80% of the world is not a member of either side and is fast asleep. I hope for their sake that terrorist body bombs aren't the alarm that wakes them up.
