Tousism is important for SIngapore as it brings in tourist ($$$) additional creates jobs. As SIngapore does not have natural resources they need income of other "sources" like tourism.

The investments in the two casinos will have big postitive impact on tourism in SIngapore but the problem is as country is small 2-4 days is more then enough. Non-one will visit Singapore for more then 1 week and most tourist come to SIngapore for shopping.

But maybe the country is to small to have really big tourism industry as allot of tourism related acitivities I assume are not making really money but are "sponsord" by gouverment, question is if this is will be long lasting.

For this they also more focus on business conventions and hope the business people stay few days longer to spent more $.

Tourism affect the economy performance of Singapore. It brings revenue and business to Singapore. Can you imagine that if there is no tourist coming to Singapore, our airport will be just like a dead city and alot of us will be jobless.

They dont like it but they get many billionaires there Japanese, Chinese, American's etc., because they own businesses there. Factories and such. They hate the tourist because they don't want pollution. But welcome to the 21st century we have it everywhere, and they have plenty of fallout from nuke testings with China as well in the China Sea? But anyway tell you one thing that they will imprison you for is for have chewing gum of any kind at all? ha ha True story, my friend sells for Wrigley gum company and they told him he could come there but no gum. That is because it is a danger to their manufacturing equipment and they don't like the littering either and the germs from the littering believe it or not Ripley? ha ha
