Old people appear to be stubborn about all kinds of things. My Great Aunts are both in their 90's as is my grandfather. They were born nearly a century ago. They went about in an age where there were few cars, fewer people and definitely less violence. My aunts travelled to school on a horse and cart! They don't like the world as it is it frightens them so when they are faced with something new or different they dig their heels in and refuse to change. As for the age thing I think that's a male/female thing. My Grandad tells everyone he's "94 you know" but my aunts think its awful if people know their age.

I think most old people suffer from a chronic sense of loneliness, their peers are slowly or in some cases rapidly dieing. They don't want to rely on younger relatives as they feel they are a burden.

I love my oldies they are a great source of history and I love the stories they tell.

Arthritis, osteoporosis, emphysema, angina, heart disease, and lots more. Some brought about by a life of poor diet (lack of money and knowledge), smoking (which was considered cool in the days gone by). Also stress , bad housing and large families causing a lot heart and lung problems and depression.

Old age is a mental attitude as well as a physical problem. People shudder when you discuss old age. Next to the subject of death, it is the least favorite topic. There are many ways people try to postpone old age. They try various products to keep on looking and feeling young. They try traveling to relieve boredom and to give a sense of fulfillment. They use gadgets and programs to postpone old age.

Excercising is also one way in which they tried to postpone aging.

They suffer from isolation, because their kids and family is too engrossed in the modern life, and they can not keep pace with it, they feel ignored.
They suffer from a identity crisis, they might have been well known in their own times, but now they are nothing more than X's father or Z's grandfather.

Elderly people tend to repeat themselves, and their memory is not good, yes they repeat themselves, they can be stubborn, but whats wrong with that! excesses is for the young, done it, bought the t shirt, whats wrong with that, they also rant about the young, and say " it was better when I was young" and " the young don't know anything" whats wrong with that! also they repeat themselves, What was the question again?
