A man has a sexual relationship with a woman one time only. The woman assures the man that she is on the pill and does not want children anyway. The man finds out later through a close friend of the woman that she is pregnant and she plans on keeping the child. The man also finds out from the friend that she believes it was a setup to get pregnant. The woman wants the man to be part of the childs life. He is angry about this and does not want to have anything to do with the woman. He feels no attachment to the child. What should he do and what is the moral (not financial) obligation that he has?

Look at it this way, if this happened to your mother, and you were the baby and grew up, Would you want to know your father? would you want to go through life saying "I never got to know my daddy, when all the other kids are with there daddy's. I know thats a tough way to look at it but there is an inocent child now that is involved in this sad situation that she put you in. I totally agree (If forsure she is pregnant) You can also have a paternity test done so you know for sure..But if she does marry someone other than you, and he chooses to be the father for the child, "then out of best interest, by the sounds of it, then I would step back and let him be the childs father. I really don't know how you feel forsure because I don't know you, but I can say...I have a 11 year old daughter and I couln't EVEN imagine life without her. Think things through first before jumping the gun, do you know forsure she is preg. Are you the only one she slept with at that time? If she is preg. find out how far along she is...maybe she was already preg. but just looking for a man that she can make a daddy for her child. There are alot of things to look at since you only just slept with her once. But in the long run that's usually the way it goes, 1 time that is I mean. Good Luck to you for what ever you decide, but like I said, I would really look at all your possiblitys first, I have to say that I'm glad that something like that never happened to me as a baby. I'm sorry for you.

I took birth control, orthotricyclene everyday as ordered, never missed a pill or time. I got pregnant but miscarried at 7 weeks (they think because of the pill and my not knowing until about 5 weeks pregnant). Later on in life, I found out I had pcos. When they put me on the pill to suppress my ovaries, they found that my ovaries didnt suppress w/ the pill because they were hyperstimulating more than the pill could help. This they think, caused me to ovulate while on the pill, which then resulted in my pregnancy. It is true however that antibiotics do squelsh birthcontrol from working. So if you are on one, make sure to use a condemn too. I dont know why they affect birthcontrol, I just know my dr. told me they would.

Firstly let me say I truly believe that anyone who lies in order to get herself pregnant is pathetic. Its just not something that any decent woman would do.
However in saying that it annoys me when I hear men say...oh she duped me into getting pregnant. Umm how old are you? Surely you dont need me to tell you that if you have unprotected sex ...you could become a father.
In saying that though... if in fact you were with this woman just once you also may not be the daddy either. My advice would be to find out either way. Because the thing is if this is your child ...whether you wanted to be or not... when its born you be a dad. Morally, the child needs to come first. One more dead beat dad... the world does not need

Man,It sounds like she has deceived you in a horrible way.I'm afraid the horse has bolted,You have to go into damage control.I would determine that your the father first before submitting to anything.I think you are going to get a lot of "I told you so's".And "You should of worn a rubber" Blah blah blah and so on and so forth.I would question her morals for executing such an act in the first place.As for your moral obligation toward this child,Well unfortunately regardless of the circumstances the child will be YOUR child,So you have a lot of thinking to do my friend.

The pill is for NOT getting pregnant. Is that the only thing a person should be careful of???
If you only slept with her one time, then you should have protected yourself yourself.
Now my friend you are financially responsible for that child, and you have a moral duty to your blood.
We all pay for our mistakes in life no matter what so face it and wise up!!!
How old are you anyway. Only STUPID kids sleep around with out properly protecting themselves

More fool the man for taking her word that she is on the pill why don't some guys take responsibility for them selves some times...you know..... like wearing the jacket (condom) for protection, stop putting it all on the woman, no wonder some women dupes a man into getting pregnant.

Well , he really does not have a choice financially. He will have to pay child support. However he can choose not to see the child, but that is something he will probably regret in the long run.

get a DNA test and if you are proven to be the father and you are sure you want nothing to do with the child, then petition the court to give up your parental rights. i don't know if you would still have to pay support, but you won't have to spend time with her or the child. I hated helping you because of the child but you were tricked and I can see your problem.((((SIGH)))) maybe i did a good thing.......................

If you're having one night stands then you should be using condoms anyway who knows what you might catch! if you really are that against having children and can't be careful then I suggest abstinance is the only option for you.
