I have windows media player 11 and when I burn a cd or mp3s it only burns about 12 mp3s when there is a lot of room left on the disk. I've down loaded a better media player and I know it isn't the burner because I also burn DVDs with it. can anybody tell me how to fix this problem.

Your settings are to burn an audio cd, and as we all know, audio cds only hold 80 minutes of audio. Change the settings to burn an MP3 CD, or stop using windows media player and just use explorer to burn the files you want onto the disc.

You probably know this already, but most CD-R discs are designed to hold either 700MB or 80 minutes worth of music. So, if your 12 MP3's total up to around the 80 minute mark, then thats all it'll hold. Hope this helps.
