yep, 2x.

2/x * 2x - 3/2x * 2x = 4 * 2x

4 - 3 = 8x

1 = 8x

x = 1/8

you multiply the right and left side by 2x

you obtain 4-3 = 8x

1=8x

x =1/8

verify you obtain 16-12 =4

2/x-3/2X=4

multiply both sides by 2X

2X divided by x equals 2 multiply by 2 = 4
2X divided by 2X equals 1 multiply by 3= 3
2X multiply by 4 = 8x

4-3=8x
1=8x
-------
8

X=1/8

Step1: Get the LCD of both terms on the left side of the equation. (I assume you already know how to do this so let's get to Step2)

Step2: Merge both terms.

4 - 3 / 2x = 4. (Read as four minus three all over two x equals four)

Step3: Subtract.

1 / 2x = 4 (Read as one over two x equals four.)

Step4: Cross Multiply

*Assume that four has a denominator of one.

8x = 1 (Eight x equals one)

Step5: Divide both sides by eight to let 'x' remain by itself.

x = 1 / 8 (x equals one over eight)

2/x - 3/2x = 4
(2/x x 2x) - (3/2x x 2x) = (4 x 2x)
4x/x - 6x/2x = 8x
4 - 3 = 8x
1 = 8x
1/8 = x

(2x*2-3x)/2x^2 = 4
4x-3x=8x^2
x=8x^2
1=8x

x=1/8
