Hi
These little motors suffered from cam and crank sensor problems, both of which would illuminate the engine management light.
It could also have a problem with the coolant sensor. There was a documented problem wherein the connections in the connector plug on the sensor were losing integrity due to vibration and there was actually a repair kit just for that fix. This would illuminate the engine management light.
The coolant sensor could also be faulty itself. This too would illuminate the engine management light.
In a nutshell, you need to have the fault codes read out which would point you in the right direction. If you post them on here we can tell you what they mean. Any garage can read out the fault codes, as can anyone with a basic FCR (Fault Code Reader).
On a final note, as a lot of the previous answers have stated, it could simply be damp and a spray of water dispersant may sort it out.
Best wishes
Geordie

when is the last time you had a tune up, and if you did have one check the spark plug wires and other tune up relater parts, or it could be dirty/clogged up fuel injectors, also pay attention to the gas you use and make sure your not taking any water into your fuel tank because of moister. and find a friend with a scan tool to scan the engine light problem for free. that may help you get closer to what the problem really is.

It could be any number of reasons. Vauxhalls are buggers for sensors. if the management lights on it could put the car into 'limp home mode' to save the engine. My money will be on the crank shaft sensor but you need to get it onto diagnostics machine to check.

So, your car is kangaroo jumping. My dog used to jump onto people's legs. I fixed him with a rolled up newspaper. If that doesn't work, try using the Los Angeles telephone directory insread.

most new cars now go into what,s called limp home mode, the engine will not react as nor mall in this mode, try disconnect battery for 10 Min's then re-connect ,this will allow ecu to re set and carry out diagnostics on car.but as normal could be lot more.

Perhaps the ECU's not managing to richen the mixture enough for the temperature, but any solutions are guesswork really. You need to get it to a dealer & have the codes read, which will tell you what's wrong
