Singapore is a small country without natural resources. We can't bring in money by selling these resources. Thus, Singapore have been going towards the direction of International Hub. In order for a country to progress and rich, we need more money to come in, instead of going out. Tourism is one of the industry to bring money into the country.

Tousism is important for SIngapore as it brings in tourist ($$$) additional creates jobs. As SIngapore does not have natural resources they need income of other "sources" like tourism. The investments in the two casinos will have big postitive impact on tourism in SIngapore but the problem is as country is small 2-4 days is more then enough. Non-one will visit Singapore for more then 1 week and most tourist come to SIngapore for shopping. But maybe the country is to small to have really big tourism industry as allot of tourism related acitivities I assume are not making really money but are "sponsord" by gouverment, question is if this is will be long lasting. For this they also more focus on business conventions and hope the business people stay few days longer to spent more $.

Tourism brings in money to Singapore. So what exactly your question is?
They stay in the hotel, buy our souvenirs, eat here, shop here and fly our airlines. It is tourist dollars!!
