Sounds are to us a spectrum of vibrations that we are able to hear or perceive through transduction. It is a ten-octave spectrum from 20 Hz to 20 kHz... a very nice spectrum, since we can only see one octave (color)... and there are many other levels of vibrations.

I am a big fan of oscillations as I feel that they make up the bulk of the universe... even maintain it.

Ask yourself this: Does anything in this universe exist? Some believe that every aspect of the universe is just a creation of the human mind. For all you know non of this exists and all that is occurring around you is just a by product of your minds processes, in essence you could be hallucinating your entire life as could i. If this were the case then i am typing this answer to myself because nothing other that my mind faculties exists beyond its boundaries, i am imagining you and thus responding to your imaginary inquiry. Wow don't you think philosophy is such a wonderful subject?

Well sound is just alot of vibrations and air traveling in different directions and speeds all at the same time. And our ears are specially made to pick up on these. And to turn it into what you hear. But the sound still exist’s just not in the way you perceive it. Like nothing is solid microscopic organisms can travel through anything. But to us there are solids it’s just are perception.

Did sound exist where and when?
What do yo think our ears are for but to pick up the pressure vibrations that we call sound waves. Our minds interpret these waves to let us know if we are in danger from something causing these waves.

i'm assuming that book was a philosophy book. lol i can say my mind created everything i see and that every time i close my eyes everything in the world ceases to exist.

btw just to counter-argue. supposing that there are other sentient beings besides yourself...if YOUR mind created sound...how can you describe a sound to someone and they understand what you are talking about. there would be at least slight variation in how both of your mind would have initially created the sound

Sound does exist. You can measure it on a sound level meter, which does not have a mind, so it can't be created in our mind.

Indeed it does not exist not they way we commonly understand it as.. which is 'sound'. There is a similar question of whether light exists. Let's not confuse the patterns around us with our way of perceiving them
