First we must know what is Super Power. Super power countries are US, UK , and France etc. What is the difference between a Super power and ordinary countries. Super power countries are POWERFUL in commerce (trade), economic growth & development, nations wealth, technological advancement, literacy rate, health, and defence.AND more importantly influencing capacity over the other countries ie Bigbrother attitude!

we could make india a super power by eradicating our mass illiteracy, poverty and having a stable population, technological advancement etc. Please read the Vision India 2020 of our honourable president Dr. APJ Kalam in which He clearly depicts how we could be a SUPERPOWER by 2020.

Superpower is defined as a nation-state that can "influence events and project power on a worldwide scale", both economically and militarily. Both China and India has the potential to become superpower within the 21st century, but first they must possess the ability to produce indigenous military hardware such as ICBM, super aircraft carriers, nuclear submarines with first strike nuks, air superiority aircrafts, etc. In comparison, India today has submarines that are purchased from Russia and jets that are from France. For conventional forces, they must posses the ability to project large armed forces worldwide in a sustained conflict, such as Afghanistan or Iraq. This requires airlift, sealift capacity and military bases globally.
Other factors are ability to project cultural influence, (e.g. the American film industry dominates the world in projecting its culture and arts) and control of large areas of land (territories) or sea. The projection of economic power is less so, today, related to a nation-state as multi-national companies are less inclined to be aligned with specific countries. A remaining question is then, why would you want India to be a Superpower, given the negative connotation associated with such status?

Infrastructure, sanitation, drainage, sewerage and law & order are the basic requirements to get out of the cycle of developing and still developing country. Above all, bear in mind that we are talking about 1.2 billion population with communal and caste riots. Some miracle should happen to make religion irrelevant in the society, for things to take off. That's the turning point.

first of all, all citizens have to develop a good civic sense and also indulge their least percentage of mind into patriotism if not more. you see, there is always the necessity to first realise what exactly is a super power. if, it's the matter of economy, i dont think we lag very behind. only that we dont know how to allocate our recourses efficiently and to the most optimum level. once that's done, then, we can dream of something near the super power. till then jai videsh!!
