When i see the old movie classics that is why i wanted to smoke .It looked so dramatic to me and wanted to smoke like them. I was so influenced watching how they light and smoked it.Especially my idol Bette Davis. She is gone but her cigarettes will live on. I no longer find it fashionable.

If you could hear me coughing, you'd definetly change your mind. Even if it doesn't cause cancer the effects are horrible. I'm 40 & was told to quit or I'd die. The worst part is once you've become addicted, it is almost impossible to quit, believe me I've tried

Definitely not. Most people now are on some environmental, save the planet and humanity from corporations and pollution crusade. Cigarettes get in the way of that agenda.

But I'll agree, in the past it was highly romanticized. I saw an episode of the Twilight Zone once and Rod Serling was giving a preview of next week's episode, and then he started talking about how great his cigarettes were... I was just like, "o_o", it's amazing what they did back then. Cool, though. I wish they still had smokes ads like that now.

Of course smokers are outcasts now, but smoking used to be the coolest thing you could do; EVERYONE smoked, and they looked cool and sexy doing it. Since I grew up in those days I still feel that way, even though I never took up the habit. People STILL look cool and sexy while smoking on screen.

For some reason, smoking always looks cool in Black & White.
Otherwise it looks like the habit of a moron.

back in those days people weren't informed (or didn't know) about the seriously bad side effects from smoking so i guess it was considered 'cool'. i wish i'd never started, finding it impossible to quit so far!
