everything is ^possible:you must take courses on line or at evening school, but please, try to figure out what you REALLY want to do in your life.I always had jobs that I hated, but had no choice at the time, with my wife and 3 little children,...
At this moment,I am 49 and learning higher management, and I started with a very low degree, because I was forced to go to work when I was 17. Now I am on my way to a job I like to do. I always told my children: I don't care what kind of job you will do in the future, but at least,do a job that you really like, because it's for a long time,..
Best of luck, Luc

I know a welder/fabricator who changed from 'reading' drawings to producing them. He studied at college part time and progressed first through the company he worked for then onto elsewhere. He doesn't regret it and found the change comparatively easy.
Myself, I changed (for the same reason as you) and went into Health & safety work. If I was doing it now I would take BIOH asbestos exams (which are relatively inexpensive) and go down that line instead.

Try this link below to look as job career assessment tools.
If you are good at steel fixer, you could look to supervisory position in the field. That shoud be a tad warmer and more $.

Now really, if you don't know, how should we know?!
Sit down, make a list of your strengths and weaknesses, make a list of what you like. And then go out and do something about it!
Speak to the training department at your company, if it is a large one, or a local college or educational centre. Start your own business.

Don't stay in a job you're not happy with, have a look at adult courses etc see if theres anything you're interested in and go for it, if you're worried about not being able to support your family then do it part time, good luck!!

find something that you would consider the possibility to do... Once you figure that out check out on-line courses to work for the goal. But make sure that the field you are looking for is something that is in need and can get a job for...

- what you should do is change your job firstly to give you flexible working hours, do something that is not a challenge. Then with extra time on your hands you can study and re-enter the job market as something completely new.

Why not quit and sign on the doll?
its not good money but you can lie around in your underpants all day. its a better role model for your kids than working as a steel fixer,

Rob a bank. If it goes wrong, at least you'll have a long holiday without the responsibilities for a few years, eh?
