From my experiences, I would suggest or even beg you not to get into a long distance relationship, those are very very hard, emotionally and physically on both parties. And most of the time they do not work out and they leave you will ill feelings towards the other person. Its a very lonely relationship, and most people I've met that were in a long distance relationship ended it because the other person either cheated, or decided never to contact them again after awhile (usually one person can't stand it and just gives up and finds someone closer to home), sometimes.. both.
But if you have to, theres always cyber-sex or phone-sex... so not all hope is lost.. just make sure you can trust the person 100% before you get into this relationship with them.

Honestly, no. You both are going to need each other more than you think, especially being at a distance. Sure, phone sex is great, cam's are good, and getting together once in a while is even better but you both will desire more. Who says you cant continue to meet every now and then? Just dont committ. Is it really much of a relationship if you can't hold out? (It's called masturbation by the way-most normal people do it!) Clearly you should move on, because if you were serious about this person, you wouldn't be here asking strangers what to do! Do them a favor...MOVE ON!
