No. He is just a coach.He has no rights to select the Indian team.But he can just suggest.

His role is very influenial in the selection committee. Chief selector can not ignore coachs recommendation at the time of team selection.
Other key members for team selection are chief selector,captain and zonal selectors.

He was the main selector till that spineless Kiran More was around, but since the Colonel has come, he has taken charge of the Army and Greg is left with only his Chappal, so he is Greg Chappal, ( like Ajanta Hawai Chappal) now.

No. His job is to coach the team picked by the selectors.As he was instrumental with More & Dravid to oust Ganguly before, so people has got the wrong vibe that he is influential.I personally think that Vengsarkar the chairman of the selectors cut him down to his size.
