Why is there braille on all the keyboards? But only on 2 letters? Do blind people get keyboards will these kinds of things on all the letters and the raised dashes are there to hook the braille onto it? But then if not, they can't determine F and J cuz they have the same... But they can't see the screen...Are there braille screens availible? I'm confused...

lol.......You'll also notice that the 5 on the 10 key also has this feature. It is so you can find your "spot" on the keyboard by touch.

This gave me a chuckle, I really mean thanks to you. After reading so many experts...well, really thanks.

That is because F and J are the beginning letters of the "home row" keys (the keys you rest your pointer fingers on). By putting those dashes there your fingers can feel whether they are in home row position or not without having to look down.

Those are the starting points to put your index fingers. If you are properly trained in typing, that's the starting point. It's not braille.

The dashes are put there so that, without looking at the keyboard, people can find where thier hands are supposed to be when they are on the home row.

Proper typing technique is taught with your index fingers starting on the f and j keys, and the rest of your hand following suit. By placing the notches on those two keys, a "proper" typist can find their fingers without looking as compared to looking down, finding the f and j key, placing your index fingers on those keys, and then placing the rest of your fingers.

It's not Braille, they're marks to help touch typists find their place without looking.

(I use Hunt & Peck method...)
