Toxic Friend Apologizes?

Question

So, I have this manipulative friend, she always treats me horribly, treats her other friends like garbage, puts me down to make her feel better about herself... yeah she's a 100% toxic friend that puts me down and then yells at me for being upset about it later.

Anyways, I wrote her a note on myspace (yeah, lame.. i know) to avoid conflict (I didn't want her to get all worked up and yell and throw a tantrum).

And she did the thing I really didn't expect her to do... apologize. But only for a past argument she had with me, not the entire toxic friendship.

But, the thing is, I'm really not sure whether or not to buy her apology. I'm afraid she's just going to continue her behavior.

How do I know she is sincere? Part of me doesn't want to hang around her long enough to find out just incase she isn't... what should I do? Any advice?

hmm... leave it as it is... i wouldn't really trust apologies on myspace. that's cheap and easy too. she likely doesn't mean it, i'm afraid... don't be the one talking/msging/calling her first--let her do everything first so that it seems like you are the one doing her a favor. if she goes against you ONE MORE TIME, cut off and don't accept her as a friend FOREVER.

erm, if you're the forgiving kind, if after that one more time she apologizes to you sincerely IN PERSON and you feel you should give her one more chance, by all means go ahead. but i think this would be the LAST chance! at least for me it would be...

Toxic friends arent even friends to begin with. They use others just to boost themselves and normally are the ones with very low self esteem. If your not really looking forward to see what is to become of any changes in her personality then I really wouldnt stress the matter. The only true way that you are going to be able to find out if she is sincere is by giving it time. Besides that all you are doing is going by her word
