Arguing that it would hurt "small businesses" is a crock? If you can't afford to pay $7.25 an hour to a human being, you should be ashamed of yourself, in my opinion.

I am a business owner of a small business and I have never paid someone under $9.00 an hour. Employees can sometimes be a pain in the rear but if I want to sleep well at night, I need to pay somewhat of a living wage or get out of business.

The Republican party has been opposed to minimum wage since it was enacted in the 1930's as part of New Deal legislation. For past 70 years they have opposed increases in minimum wage. However they have used power in congress to cut taxes for the rich and have no problem supporting this type of legislation.

I agree with you. the guy above me thinks it's okay to pay someone $7 an hour while he's probably driving an escalade.
