I am the mother of 2 boys, adopted internationally. I think there is a lot of mis-information concerning "babies available for adoption in the US".
There are many infants available through private adoption, but there are actually more adoptive parents waiting then there are infants, so the wait may be long, and these children are going to have a family either way. There is also a risk of the adoption falling through, which would have been very hard for us. And the fees are sometimes higher then international adoption.
From our inquiries into foster care-adoption, we found that many of the children are older, and have needs that many parents are not prepared to provide, and many of the infants either have major special needs or are not yet available for adoption, meaning that you could foster the child, but after months of bonding with the child they could be reunited with their birth families, sometimes to an abusive situation. More families would be able to adopt from the US if our system put the best interests of the child first.
While these children do need homes, so do children all over the world. We chose international adoption in part because there was little risk involved, the time frame was more set, and we're so glad we went that route and have our amazing children.
I assure you, most internationally adoptive parents aren't trying to "make a statement" or neglect american children, they just want to have a family, and find this is tha right path for them.
Thanks, and sorry to be so lond-winded!

Very frustrated. In the United States, Black kids are being put up for adoption all of the time, at much Higher rates than White kids. The White kids get adopted as soon as they hit the market, the Black kids go from home to home hoping to find a family. These celebs are turning their backs on American Children and talking about how the West is doing such a terrible job of helping developing countries, but we're doing more for them than we are our own people.

I agree. They seem to be adopting almost as a fashion accessory. In England they are trying to pass a law allowing gay couples to adopt and call it what you like I am entitled to my opinion but I do not think it is right. A child should grow up in a home with different sex parents. Later in life how that child choses to live, is up to them gay or straight but they will have the choice. A child of adoption does not have that choice, the same with the African babies who are being taken from their roots and brought up in an alien environment by superstars. It is immoral.

Well, it probably doesn't give them much publicity if they adopt an American baby. I think the new fashion with celebs these days is to adopt kids from third world countries... kind of like having expensive jewelry, private jets, designer clothes, etc. They're accessories to them like their little dogs. I mean, seriously, they have so many nannies and all of that, they don't even need to raise the child themselves.

What is your problem??? If you knew ANYTHING about the quality of life in comparison to that of American children, you would shut your mouth. At least American adoptees have the potential to succeed versus those in third world countries, and even second world. Plus, it is a small percentage who even adopt foreign babies.

I am thinking they should leave the country and stay out. I am tired of hearing about celeb adoptions in general.....it's not like any of those celebrities actually have ever changed a diaper or anything.

I agree..... and even the children in America tend to become victims of child abuse since 60's
We really cannot allow children get abuse emotionally or physically by their parents at all. Children should stay under the sun not in the darkness of soul. And for most Americans this topic of child abuse is still hush-hush and most people are really allergic to deal with it. So, someone has to do something positive towards America.

A bit white-oriented and Ameri-centric, are we.
Seriously dumb question. You need to get out the country yourself and see how the other 90 percent of the earth really lives. It's called cultural awareness.
