Back in the early days of the movies there were serials featuring such characters as Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, Gene Autry and others. These ran 12 to 13 episodes each. Not sequels in the strictest sense. Episodes were shown in individual theaters a week or month apart.

Most Pixar movies are worthy of a sequel. It's also been about 10 years since Rome & Michelle's High School Reunion came it, so it's about time for their 20th reunion.
