THC is addicting , the tar and other chemicals are harmful.
They have done more studies on the effects of marijuana and yes, it is addicting and one of the with drawls is night sweats. The smoke and tar you inhale is more harmful then cigarettes.
Just like any other medication drug on the market there are risks of taking them.

It is readily available and pleasurable....ergo...many get addicted.

There are those who try to tell you that pot is not addictive. As a recovered pothead I know that it is. It is addictive on a par with tobacco. Not as hard to kick as speed but nevertheless, there is a withdrawl period. One experience will not addict you anymore one cigarette will. But sustained use will lead to addiction.

It took me five years to finally quit. I mean that I was a havier user for 12 years, and , that after seven I knew I had a problem. Five years later I finally managed it. Stayed in the house for ten days. Was a basket case for a month still finally I was clear enough to focus on anything other than quitting.

Lost all my friends. They were all potheads.Thought EVERYbody smoked pot. I found out it was only a few of us, really.

I have not smoked pot since 6 January 1983. It is a day I always celebrate.

I used to have occasional nightmares that I had slipped and smoked again but after about four years I didn't have them any more. Although I had one as recently as the summer of 1995.

I doubt that occasional pot use will render you addicted. But it IS addictive, something like cigarettes. The more you do, the greater the risk.

I wasted most of 12 years of my life on that merry-go-round. I hope you do better.

for some people there may be a degree of psychological addiction, but there is no physical addiction. i used it for years, but when i got a job that regularly drug tested me i gave it up. i didn't go through the painful process of withdrawal, because there was no physical addiction. i do sometimes miss it but I'm really not tempted to start up again. and i doubt if it is completely harmless, no drug, legal or illegal is. but every decision we make is, in some sense, a gamble.

I'm sure that there are some that are addicted to marijuana. However, part of its appeal is that it is non-habit forming and therefore perceived as less harmful as other drugs. I would never tell you that Marijuana is harmless, but I wouldn't tell you that it'[s dangerous, either.

What makes it addictive is the effect is has on the brain. I heard it was a harmless drug, but you smoke it which is still a hazard to the brain and lungs. Cigarettes are still worse though.

I don't think it's "addictive".. people just like to do it all the time.. people can stop with no problem.. It's not addictive cause if you don't have it you won't freak out like you would with other stuff

It is only psychologically addictive, not physically

The euphoric, relaxed state that marijuana puts you in is the addictive factor

Cause it gives you pleasure for awhile, same as sex, food, gambling.

More people become ill or die from the effects
of alcohol and cigarettes than marijuana.
