and on one show in season 1 of babylon 5 I saw this guy's body get taken over by some alien world's bio technology thing. I swear the creature he turned into looked kinda like the borg, anyone know what I'm talkin' about?

Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski also wrote alot of ST:TNG episodes to help save the show. So it would only be natural that he would invent a creature like the Borg, whom resembled one of his others in Babylon 5.

The first Borg ep aired on May 8, 1989. The B5 ep you are talking about aired on Feb 16, 1994

I never saw them as being too similar... the Borg are humanoids with cyber implants... the Ikarran War Machine was an organic bioweapon that completely took over the host.

Now if you want a somewhat closer analog to the Borg from B5... check out how the telepaths implanted with shadow technology looked and worked in "Ship of Tears" and how Sheridan employed them in "Endgame". They were designed to serve as a CPU for the Shadow vessels, but would interface with and take over/ merge with any computer system they came into contact with. Granted, they are not an alien race, but the way the shadow tech impants work and their merging with computer systems are very "borg-like".
