I have a very serious case of PCOS and after years of struggling I want my ovaries out. I'm 32, married and have no children and I began asking about having this procedure several years ago. My doctors say it's an option but only with committing myself to alot of counseling before and after. They fear that I'll regret the decision and blame them, I suppose. My symptoms are severe and I'm tired of dealing with them. Has anyone out there had their ovaries removed for this reason and was it successful? Did it clear up most of your symptoms and was it worth it? I know it won't help with my weight but some relief with the other problems would be wonderful.

I had a friend who had a complete hysterectomy for PCOS. She never looked back. :) Apparently, it was a big help for a lot of symptoms, even helped a little with the extra weight.

The counseling is kind of a pain in the neck, but if it's what you want to do, I think you should go for it.
