So now you see, how Internet (the Web) messes any language. While typing in a PC or Notebook or any other set like these, people feel, they just have to act quickly, thus they shorten words more and more. You can also notice, how dangerous for people to understand each other that way. RED is just an adjective (at times used as a noun, mostly for reddish people > the reds = the reddish folks from some region or some group, some family with red hair and (in general) many freckles on their faces), while READ still is the correct form for the past tense AND for the past participle of TO READ. Specially US people do many deviations of words whilst they write or type or even when they speak!!! Nothing against that way of expressing their thoughts and ideas, but it's clearly ambiguous, confusing, thus harmful, mostly to young folks (children) and foreigners!!! - Would you ever say "My DEAD is not DAD", just because these two words SOUND similar??? Think of the clarity of the idea/sentence, when you say it correctly, which is "My DAD is not DEAD". Children's friends just like to mess others, just for fun!
