Which razor gets closer? The old fashioned blades, or the new ones? Assuming you get good at using the old fashioned one, is the razor burn the same?

A double edge safety razor does the best , IMHO. yes, it does take some getting used to, but the advantages are numerous: close shave, economic blades, impressive shaving gear (chicks dig it). but be careful! you can hurt yourself! in the end though, i have found little difference between the 2 types- it seem sto have more to do with sharpness of the blades and shaving technique.
in the meantime, the mach3 series has worked really well for me. Use a shave brush and soap/cream, and try to apply as little pressure as possible. while this may not work for all faces, i am able to shave, relather, and shave in all other directions ( againste the grain); my very last stroke is 'with' the grain of the beard- i never get razor burn this way.

The new blades with their coatings are MUCH better, but almost all razors use these now. The tricks are -- use the 3 blade razors [or at least 2] and
buy a reputable [non-cheapo] brand for regular daily shaves. However, use a single blade for longer [2-3 -or4 day] growth as the shaven hair clogs between the blades. Straight razors are good for longer hair.
Of course, washing the beard with hot soapy water and hot rinse will be
KEY as it SOFTENS the beard and preps it for the foam and the FOAM
WILL SOAK INTO THE BEARD BETTER. [gel foam or regular ]. Let it
set a bit to thoroughly soak in before shaving. You'll love it.
[many shave different directions, as their beards grow different directions.
Just try the good triple bladed Shick or Gillette.
FINALLY: Never, yes, NEVER buy one of those cheapies at a hotel or motel.
Just carry a dull pocket knife and save the vending coins....

Shave with a safety razor for a while before trying a straight razor as the skill level required is lower. Be sure to use hot washcloths held against the area to be shaved for several minutes before applying shaving cream. Then warm the razor and draw it in the direction of hair growth (down for the face) rinsing the razor in warm water from the faucet after each stroke. Take your time and enjoy!

i've got not got a ordinary variety yet twin or triple blade with a swivel disposable ones. A decrease-throat razor is a few thing else. it extremely is one in each and every of those with a single, at contemporary blade as used via barbers and on movies. To do it your self you want a outstanding hand one and a left hand one.

im a long time suffer of chicken skin, aka razor bumps. heres the key. washing your face twice a day, keeping your razors sharp and shave with or atleast across the grain. use the newer ones, theyre just safer. oh, and for that new razor that vibrates...ya thats what we all need, vibrating razors against our neck, ouch.
