that initially led you to becomming a Con or Lib, what was it? You must limit it to just ONE. Of course, I understand that many other events have occurred since you first started to believe in a particular ideology.

For me, Conservatism began in earnest as a child in:

1979: 444 days of humiliation as the Ayotollah of Iran *****-slapped President Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Congress.

We don't "play that" in my neighborhood.

I considered myself an independent all of my life( voting age till now...20yrs) as I liked some views of liberals and some views of conservatives. However, since my vote is not really being counted anymore or counted but it will never matter as either a repub or crat will take office, I have decided that this administration has pushed me over to the democrats. I will stay here until either side pushes me the other way. I feel that this administration has just been way too corrupt, scandalous and incompetent. This Presidents rating is only 30 something percent! Even the republicans in congress are now leaving him and going with the democrats...sorry to say but its gonna be a long 2yrs for him and his administration.

Same for me. Conservatism began in...

1979: As a little girl, seeing my father furious while watching the Iran Hostage Crisis on the News and seeing Jimmy Carter walking around hunchbacked, wearing a sweater, and the Democrats in Congress trying to negotiate with madmen like the Ayatollah. Also, waiting in my parents car for hours in the gasoline lines. No one could buy a house either because interest rates were over 21%. My siblings and I learned the definition of "double digit" inflation in elementary school too. It was insane and I'm sure it is a lasting reason why Republicans have controlled the White House for 28 of the last 36 years.

Yours is not a fair question. There is seldom a single event that propels us to espouse a certain ideology, but rather a number of conditions, situations and experiences that form our opinions. Personally, I lived through a war and I am sure that that has something to do with my thinking today, which I might add is still evolving and I have pledged no allegiance to any ideology. What I do find however, the older I grow, is that I am becoming more liberal than I was in my youth. Call it experience, mellowing down or what ever you wish, but I do find more freedom of thought in not constraining myself with old notions.

properly, Bush and Palin the two have an I.Q. equivalent, if no longer below, a squirrel. i assume i could ought to head with Romney whether it may be particularly terrifying to assert the least. by skill of how, I do like some conservatives yet those on your checklist are horrid.

The failed presidency of Jimmy Carter made me a Republican/Conservative for life. His ineptness and lack of any presidential skills turned me from the democratic party forever.

he did say .. he understands many other events etc... he is just asking what sealed the deal so to speak. so quit saying it isnt a fair question.

the Iran hostage issue I remember also. Then Reagan came in and Iran just turned them over.
I foolishly got rebellious later on when I got in highschool college.
But then I saw time and time again liberals bittching about things but rarely ever had a specific alternative to propose.
I finally saw through the rhetoric and realized that liberals want to run your life for you. And if im going to screw up my life it will be me that does it not someone else :)

Losing fellows I went to school with in the unjust, un-war, Viet Nam.

But there are so many other reasons, too.

I am a liberal, thru' and thru'!!!

Here's my honest answer. I'm gay and of course I believe in gay marriage. So whatever my other beliefs (which are, I guess surprisingly, conservative). I was automatically deemed a liberal when I turned 18 and was able to vote.

I think it was the moment I read your insipid post...

No wait, I became a Liberal the moment it became evident that I was born to parents who were married to each other...

Clinton and the Dem's views on gun control, abortion, etc... I guess you could say all of the dem's views. Oh and Hillary won't be elected president. She has already been president twice.
