I went for my first ultrasound. The doctor counted 9 weeks from my first day of my last menstrual period. On the ultrasound it showed that I am only 8 weeks and 1 day. But the doctor said everything is fine. He said a Normal 8 weeks gestation. There was also a heart beat. I got worried that the fetus didn't grow enough. Should i be concerned?

it sounds like all is well,,,, you most likely didnt get pregnant on the first day of your last menstrual period,,,, , so that count really wouldnt mean much,,,
ps: the weeks gestation is based on development,,, not on size,,,,, so a smaller baby could be 9 weeks, and a larger one 8 weeks,,,,,

I knew the day I got pregnant, so knew my due date. Three ultrasounds measured the baby much larger than that, so the dr. claimed my due date was 3 weeks earlier. I ended up giving birth to a 7-1/2 lb. baby 4 hours after the due date I had calculated. The ultrasound measurements are definately not an exact science, and since that measurement was only a few days off, don't worry. If they doctor isn't concerned, don't be alarmed.

purely some rationalization why it is important to have a minimum of a million ultrasound throughout a being pregnant: there are a number of diverse anomalies that a toddler may be born with. lots of them are no longer detected by way of blood artwork subsequently an ultrasound might have the skill to ensure what's erroneous with toddler and tell no rely if it is deadly or no longer. If one might prefer to renowned the gender, an ultrasound is the only thank you to tell. examine length and dates. ensure toddler is turning out to be staggering and that dates are precise in accordance to your LMP. ensure that the being pregnant is interior the uterus. no rely if it is an ectopic (outdoors of the uterus) it is quite risky. It it have been to burst there is an danger that it would desire to be deadly to the mummy.

During the course of a 40 week gestation the number of days can appear to be off. All should be well.

No doctor can predict exactly how far along you are. Its impossible, that's why they let you go over your due date before they induce. What they tell you is only what they medically think. I'm sure that your baby is doing great, and that everything is fine. I was given 2 due dates with my first child and 3 with my second, and none of them were right. Good Luck.

It is all right to have a 1 - 2week lag between your LMP date and gestational age of the baby.

This happens all the time. Your due date is just an estimation anyway. Your baby can come 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after your due date EASILY. Don't stress it.

Absolutely, you should NOT be worried. Timing is not exact for any woman, and, even if there might be a problem, worrying will only compound it. Trust in the will of God, and remember: women have been giving birth long before ulrasound was invented.

No, you just got pregnant later than you thought. It's not good to worry like this, you'll do it through the whole pregnancy and it's terrible for the baby. If the doc says it's okay, trust him and be happy. That is what's good for your baby. Congratulations! :)
