Don't know if this is the one you're looking for

Mad World
Gary Jules

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere
Going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cause I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Mad world
Mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit & listen
Sit & listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No-one knew me
No-one knew me
Come on teacher tell me
What's my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me

And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cause I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Mad world

The song in question is 'Mad World', originally by 'Tears for Fears' but 'Gary Jules' did a cover of it in the 1990s for the film, Donnie Darko. It features at the end, accompanying a sad montage.

All of the lyrics can be found here: http://www.metrolyrics.com/mad-world-lyrics-gary-jules.html

Ok the song originated from Tears For Fears. The song is called Mad World. You can find that song and plenty of other hits on their greatest hits. But Gary Jules re-did it for the movie soundtrack Donnie Darko. Gary did an excellent job I might add.

The song is Mad World originally by Tears for Fears and then redone by Michael Andrews.

It was used in the movie Donnie Darko and I think became number one in the UK too.

A lovely song!

Sounds like "Mad World" by Tears for Fears.

There's a newer, crappy cover of it by Gary Jules.
