first of all find out why are you mad at him. is it because something he did to you that you were not ok with, or is it because the things he does, do not go well with your character and perspective. If it is the second cause then why did you become friends with him in the first place? find it out.
if it is the first reason then discuss it with him, and amend your relationship. remember that friends are hard to be found, so if he did not do something really stupid you should not think about cutting him lose.
If it is like that he was fine before but now really bothers you, the more he is being his real self, the more you find him repulsive then keep ignoring him, when ever he asks something just give a indifferent smile as you would smile to a stranger on the way. if he tries to come to your home or hang out with you then tell him you are busy. eventually he will understand.
REMEMBER that in this way you will lose him and the relationship for ever, and probably he will get hurt. It does not feel good when your friends cut you lose. Whatever you will do is irreversible.

tell him how your feeling and how he is being a pain in the ***. Tell him if he keeps acting this way you dont want anything to do with him. Ignoring him wont make him go away, tho if he dosnt get the attention that he normally gets from you he might just quit being a pain. Mabe he dosnt realize he's being this way..
Best thing to do is TALK TALK TALK.. get your feelings out in the open and let him know how you feel..

No point in ignoring. That causes more problems than there were to begin with. Why not talk to him and tell him why you're annoyed with him? Communication is the key. Seriously.

Not talking to him at all will only make him mad.
Talk to him briefly and tell him that you don't have time for him.
When talking to him, show him (don't tell him) that you are annoyed. This will make him understand that he has a lot of work to do to repair the damage that he did to your relationship.
Not talking to him will make him think, "Fine, to hell with you to!" unless that is what you really want.

Just tell him he's being a pain in the a** so you're going to ignore him. Then leave.

Ignoring him isn't going to solve anything. Why can't people just express how they feel anymore? Where's the communication?

YOu should just talk constantly... about things no one in the world would understand or even care about...leaving no room for any additional comments...also kep a steady scribbling on notepad for you extra entertainment. ..or tell him your ticked.
