We watch the lights and are careful. I get a bill for 26, then the next month 300, the next month 150, the next month 250, then 30... and it does not correlate with the seasons and daylight. The bills are wacky and I call in and they say I am using alot, but I"m not. Some of the esimates are high too, so it can't be the estimates verses the readings?

Check your fridge, maybe it's too old. My bill grew every month higher until I got a new fridge and cut my bill in half!

If you are getting estimates every other month, your bills may seem like they are never the same each month. Do you have an electric hot water tank? This can really make your electric bill skyrocket. In addition, if you have electric heat and an electric clothes dryer, that will do it too. Those are usually the culprits for high electric bills. Also, if you have a sump pump in your basement or a water pump. That would also cause a fluctuation in your electric bills because a sump pump will only run when conditions call for it to run.
There's really nothing you can do unless you can switch appliences over to gas (but that's not too cheap either these days). I would inquire at the electric company if you can get actual meter readings each month. Usually they will send you meter reading cards to fill out yourself and send in. This will at least produce a more accurate reading each month.
Take care.

Well, you have to also think about TVs, Hot water heater, etc. These are the winter months and some parts of the country are very cold right now. Not sure where you are, but my bill has been crazy lately too. Also maybe the bills are for the previous months and not exactly the one you just had? Check also for credits too on the later bills.

You may have a short somewhere which is an extreme fire hazard. Or there may be somebody stealing your power. Need to have it checked out by an electrician or your elect. co.
