Ground in an electrical system is not what you think it is. Take some theory classes. The path of least resistance back to the source(generator) would be the best ground. Earth will not magically accept current from a generator or the power company. It does because the power company sets it up as the fault return path. It they didn't ground it the sense of earth would have nothing to do with the wiring in your home
