They don't carry as much disease as other animals like eg, wild rats. And they don't bite either =p

Because they croaked.Sorry couldn't help myself.Actually there are quite a variety of animals dissected. besides frogs. Starfish, etc.Also they are plentiful and cheap.Frogs and humans have similar organ's. Dissecting a frog helps you to learn human anatomy. If your need more info go to link below.

My understanding was because they are similiar to humans.

I would assume they are relatively inexpensive for schools to purchase as well.

pea was used by mandel because it facilated him in his experiment and frog is used coz it is not rare and for i have never disected it i will tell u later

they have external fertilization so it is easy acquire the eggs you want as well as the sperm you want, the also grow well in vitro which makes them extremely easy to manipulate and study
