There have been several members of my mon's side of my family who have had problems with their knees. A number of years ago my uncle hurt his knee. Recently over the past month both my brother and one of my cousins have both injured their own knees. I myself occasionally have pain in my right knee when bending it.

Is it possible for certain people to be more susceptible to such injuries because of genetics?

Yes it definitely can be passed along in families. It runs in my family. A lot of us have had multiple surgeries because of it. I would bring it to your doctors attention but not push to have surgeries until you absolutely have to. Everyone that I know that has one has had to have several.
Good luck.
